Your honest opinion on Applovin

Hi everyone!

I wanted to create this thread to hear your opinion on Applovin.

I personally spent quite some money there, but when the incrementality test came, we discovered it was little to no incremental. To make things worse, their black-box model is not really what anyone would want nowadays.

What is your take? Should we just "trust the attribution"?

We also ran a MMM model with applovin and incrementality is only positive when spend is limited - otherwise they're just stealing conversions haha

I do have better incrementality with Moloco

That was very similar to the results I had, running 5 figures monthly. The incremental uplift was around 30%, meaning that we were overpaying 70% of the traffic we bought 🤣

Thanks for sharing!

And how is AppLovin performing for you when it comes to subscription-based apps and D7 ROAS targeting?

Out of curiosity what category was the app?

I heard mixed experiences, on a midcore game (sports) it had apparently results good enough that when turned off from the mix of several channels there was a drop (not very scientific, I know, this isn’t 1st hand experience). Also this was in a T1 market. Haven’t heart much positive on the apps (non-gaming) side…

We're running a study atm trying to capture and meassure the true cannibalisation.

We turned off all UA on a geo, got the organic baseline. Now Meta is on, and in about a week we turn Applovin on again. I'll report learnings here but we do expect to see a lot of the attributions from Meta get credited to Applovin

Had different experiences: from social consumer apps to social casino with very similar results.

Do you disable Enable App Icon Simple ads when running Applovin (Axon) or you keep it? And based on your CPP experience how many events do u need to accumulate to see your target CPP? I have my first test and I see very mixed results

yes i do disable it always. Regarding the CPP, i could test that directly without having any data. The important thing is that you send value in the event you optimize for in CPP

Hey, do you maybe already have the test results?
